The Research and Testing Institute Plzeň (VZÚ Plzeň) will become part of the Research Centre Řež (CVŘ) as of 1 April 2026. The merger of two major research organizations in the fields of energy and applied research represents a strategic step by the ÚJV Group, aimed at consolidating expertise and technological capacities and creating a stronger and more stable research base for future development.
The merger builds on the existing cooperation between the two organizations and enables more efficient use of expert know-how, technological infrastructure, and human resources. By joining forces, a more responsive environment is created—one that better addresses the growing demands of industry, the energy sector, and international research projects, while also strengthening the capacity to deliver complex and interdisciplinary assignments.
The key date of the merger is 1 April 2026, when VZÚ Plzeň will be fully integrated into the structure of the Research Centre Řež. The integration is carried out in compliance with applicable legislation, with an emphasis on maintaining continuity of professional activities, certifications, and individual teams. The objective of the merger is not to reduce capacities, but to meaningfully integrate and further develop them within a single organization.
The shared goal remains the continued development of research, development, and innovation in the field of modern energy, as well as strengthening cooperation with industrial partners and research institutions in the Czech Republic, across Europe, and in OECD countries.
